About the Firm
A firm that listens
before it speaks
Tanjong Counsel was established with a simple purpose: to give individuals facing pension difficulties a place where their situation would be heard carefully and considered without haste.

How Tanjong Counsel came to be
The firm grew from a recognition that pension matters — disputes over entitlements, questions about CPF nominations, uncertainty around retirement documentation — sit at a point where the financial and personal are deeply intertwined. Clients facing these situations are often not looking for aggressive advocacy. They want to understand where they stand.
Tanjong Counsel was built around that need. The firm takes a measured approach: listening first, then reviewing the documentation, then offering a view that is as clear and honest as the evidence allows. Nothing is oversold. Nothing is pressed.
The name takes its reference from the quieter end of a peninsula — a settled place with a clear view of the water. That image captures what the firm hopes to offer: a steady vantage point from which a difficult situation can be seen more plainly.

Pension and retirement law in Singapore
Singapore's pension landscape encompasses CPF schemes, private occupational pensions, and the Central Provident Fund's various retirement and healthcare components. Navigating disputes within this framework — particularly where an entitlement has been altered without satisfactory explanation — calls for someone with a detailed working knowledge of the relevant legislation and the procedures of the competent authorities.
Tanjong Counsel has worked with clients across the full range of pension matter types: CPF nomination disputes, reduction of occupational pension payments, questions about the division of retirement assets on divorce, and the preparation of coordinated retirement documentation for clients who wish to set their affairs in order carefully.
The firm's approach to each of these matters is the same: read the documents, understand the client's position, and give an assessment that is as clear and honest as the material allows. Clients are not kept in suspense, and they are not encouraged toward litigation where the position does not support it.
